I would like to personally extend my welcome to you on behalf of the great City of Mauldin, located in the upstate of South Carolina. If you are a new resident or business locating to Mauldin you will be joining one of the fastest growing communities in the Southeast as our population continues to grow at a healthy pace surpassing 25,000 residents. We are currently the 17th-largest city of the 270 municipalities in the state of SC.
As you consider relocating to our city, let me provide you with some statistics as to why we would be a great choice. Recent surveys show Mauldin as one of the three best places to live within the state of South Carolina. A national ranking of the two best cities in the state, Mauldin was ranked 29th best city to retire in, with the city of Charleston ranked 20th. Mauldin was the only city in South Carolina to make Money magazine’s top 100 places to live.
Our city employees at over 200 strong are ready to provide top notch services to our citizens daily. Our police force continues to maintain their CALEA certification and prides themselves on our community based law enforcement. Our School Resource Officer program enjoys a well received presence in all of our community schools; elementary, middle, high school and our career center.
Our fire department is one of only a few in our state to maintain an ISO class rating of 1. Our public works department provides Mauldin residents with clean neighborhoods with efficient garbage and recycling services along with leaf/limb and debris pickup services. Our street and sewer departments through proactive and documented preventative maintenance programs ensure that our infrastructure is performing as it should be.
New and existing businesses will find our Building Development Services department continuing to improve their automated processes in permitting and licenses activities along with a customer service attitude resulting in a proven business-friendly environment.
The City of Mauldin believes each of its residents deserves the best quality of life. Establishing a positive community increases demand for activity, attracting more businesses and services and paving the way for jobs and economic growth. In pursuit of this mission, the City of Mauldin operates three facilities: the Mauldin Cultural Center, the Mauldin Sports Center and the Ray Hopkins Senior Center.
The Mauldin Cultural Center offers arts education classes in skill like woodcarving, pottery, multi-media arts, guitar and voice. The Cultural Center also offers a welcoming environment for performing arts.
Mauldin Recreation offers community sports for youth and adults and engages people through fitness at the Mauldin Sports Center, which features an indoor climbing wall, an indoor track and a wide range of exercise equipment. The Sports Center offers a variety of fitness classes, including Zumba, yoga, cycling, Pilates and a wide range of exercise equipment.
The Ray Hopkins Senior Center welcomes thousands of seniors each month for exercise classes, games, trips, seminars, theatre and more. Both the Sports Center and the Senior Center offer the SilverSneakers program, through which eligible members can have the cost of their fitness classes covered by their health insurance.
Mauldin has grown over the years and continues to look to the future while remaining focused on providing the best the Upstate has to offer its residents, visitors and businesses. New residences, offices, retail and restaurants will dot the landscape that will make up our future City Center project. The Prisma Health Swamp Rabbit Trail System will utilize these new projects to connect Mauldin to the larger Upstate community, changing the landscape for years to come.
