Education

From public to private and parochial, Villa Park students have access to a variety of educational options throughout their school years. Academic excellence and lifelong learning are hallmarks of educational opportunity in Villa Park, where schools provide a safe, nurturing and innovative learning environment.

Students from Villa Park receive their formative elementary education at schools in a number of public districts including Villa Park Dist. 45, Salt Creek District 48, and DuPage High School District 88.

In addition to serving Villa Park students, District 88 also serves the communities of Addison, Lombard and Oakbrook Terrace, as well as portions of Elmhurst, Oak Brook, Bensenville, Itasca and Wood Dale.

Both Willowbrook High School and Addison Trail High School have been named as “Top High Schools” by Newsweek, as “America’s Most Challenging High Schools” by The Washington Post, as “Best High Schools” by U.S. News & World Report and as “Best Public High Schools in the Chicago Metro Area” in the Niche Rankings.

The district’s mission is “to work for the continuous improvement of student achievement,” according to Dani Brink, DuPage High School District 88 Director of Community Relations, who notes the 21st‐century vision for District 88 is one of a learning community that welcomes, excites and challenges.

The research, planning and decision making that led to the opening of Willowbrook High School in September 1959 started in the late spring of 1950, when the Board of Education launched a study of residential growth in the District 88 communities. The board resolved in January 1958 that the new school be named Willowbrook.

Initially designed for an enrollment of 2,500, Willowbrook High School opened for classes in September 1959 and measured 383,880 square feet, had 436 rooms, more than 6,000 lockers, 294 miles of wiring, 33 miles of conduit, 47 fire hoses and 168 clocks.

From farm fields to playing fields, from basic living to high tech, from a simple development of a small community to a culturally diverse population, the rich tradition of Willowbrook continues to bring a sense of pride, tradition and excellence to an already thriving community.

Health Care

Health care professionals from a broad range of specialties are easily accessible in and around Villa Park. Whether you’re searching for a pediatrician or a general practitioner, a chiropractor or a dentist, the medical office that fits your needs can be found close by.

Edward-Elmhurst Health

In 2013, the merger of Edward Hospital and Elmhurst Memorial Healthcare created one of the larger integrated health systems in Illinois. The resulting Edward-Elmhurst Health is made up of three hospitals: Edward Hospital, Elmhurst Hospital, and Linden Oaks Behavioral Health.

Located in Naperville, Edward Hospital is a full-service health care provider. The 352 private patient rooms are staffed by a highly-skilled medical team, including nationally-recognized nurses. Magnet Recognition®, the highest credential for excellence in nursing, was first earned by Edward Hospital in 2005. Since then, the hospital’s nurses have been re-designated in 2010, and again in 2014. Only seven percent of the 6,000 hospitals in the U.S. receive Magnet status from the American Nurses Credentialing Center.

Elmhurst Hospital was rebuilt from the ground up in 2011.

In addition to the 866,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art building, the hospital has also built a renowned reputation for patient-centered care. In 2015, Elmhurst Hospital earned Magnet Recognition®, acknowledging their superior quality of nursing. This title follows the hospital’s prestigious honor of achieving Planetree Distinction in 2013, placing them in the company of one of seven hospitals in the world to be recognized for their patient-centered care.

Through their combined resources, Edward-Elmhurst Health offers comprehensive health care for 1.7 million residents across communities in the west and southwest suburbs, with more than 1,900 physicians on staff in nearly 100 medical and surgical specialties and subspecialties. In addition to the quality of care, Edward-Elmhurst also offers the convenience of more than 50 outpatient locations.

Edward-Elmhurst is, “Healthy Driven … keeping your health moving forward as far down the road as humanly possible.”

Village of Villa Park

Village of Villa Park wins the Chaddick Municipal Development Award!

For more than a decade, the Chaddick Institute for Metropolitan Development has hosted the Municipal Development Award competition recognizing innovation and leadership in managing the development process. Past winners deserve wide recognition for their excellence in using zoning, development approvals, subdivision regulation, and design to build stronger and more livable communities.

This year, the Institute worked in conjunction with Trails for Illinois to recognize municipalities that are creatively planning, designing, and utilizing trailways that run through their downtowns. Our expert panel considered connectivity, multi-jurisdictional involvement, and areas where the trail has enhanced recreational and mobility options. Well planned and effectively “branded” trails can bring enormous economic, community, and cultural benefits
