Nestled among breathtaking scenery and rural charm, lies the community of Chisago Lakes. Located just 35 miles north of Minneapolis and St. Paul along the Highway 8 corridor, beauty and history connect the cities of Chisago City, Lindstrom, Center City, Shafer and Taylors Falls. Settled mainly by Swedish immigrants in the mid-1800’s, Chisago Lakes is honored as the setting for Vilhelm Moberg’s novel series “The Emigrants.” By visiting this historic community you will discover what captured the hearts of these early Swedish settlers.
