Duncanville is home to a host of entertainment and cultural attractions that will keep the family busy all year-round.

Founded in 1988, DCT produces a variety of shows annually; the season runs June 1 to May 31. To find out what is currently in production, visit www.dctheatre.org.

Music lovers will enjoy the annual Summer Concert Series in the Poe Hobden Amphitheater in Armstrong Park, compliments of the City of Duncanville.

The Museum of International Cultures is a rarity in its category, and captures the imagination of children as well as adults. Dioramas, both life-size and miniature, give a glimpse of far-flung areas from Papua, New Guinea in the South Pacific to Ecuador and Peru. Its colorful gift shop contains items from exotic corners of the world.

Olden Year Musical Museum is an amazing experience for the whole family. Recently opened in June 2018, its 16,000 square feet house over 500 pieces of vintage music boxes ranging from pocket size to table size classic phonographs, Hurdy-gurdy pipe organs, early jukeboxes and much more. The collection has pieces from 1790 to today, including a Thomas Edison phonograph and light bulbs.

Red Bird Skateland offers the Summer Social Skate and roller hockey, and is available for birthday parties. Red Bird Bowling Lanes offers league play and is great for birthday parties. It is also the site of the Chamber’s annual “Burgers, Bowling & Business” event. In addition, the city and local civic clubs offer a number of city-wide special events and activities there throughout the year.

Of course, every Christmas in Duncanville is kicked off by the Christmas parade and tree lighting ceremony. In February, the Lions Club holds its annual Las Vegas Night featuring entertainment, door prizes, auction, food, faux gambling and a chance to hold fellowship with friends.

The Duncanville Lions Club hosts two popular annual events in July and October. The Fourth of July Parade, which is held in conjunction with the City’s Fourth of July Stars and Stripes Celebration, and the Smokin’ Blues & BBQ Festival the third weekend in October.

Fall is the time for the annual Duncanville Rotary Club Fish Fry and the annual Lions Club Pancake Breakfast. Both are time-honored community events with great food.

The Duncanville Chamber of Commerce hosts a concert/auction in September and this year it will be an Elvis Tribute with Kraig Parker and the Royal Tribute Band at Eddie Deen’s Ranch.
