One of the longest continually operating ski lifts in the country, the Arizona Snowbowl is celebrating its 80th anniversary in 2018. With three new lifts installed over the past three years and advanced snow making capabilities, skiers and snowboarders now have access to more terrain than ever. It’s all downhill from here!
Take adventure to new heights at Flagstaff Climbing, which has been the hub for climbing in Northern Arizona for over 20 years. Climbers can explore two indoor climbing gyms, training, a gear shop, a guide service and local climbing area information. Day rates and memberships are available.
Flagstaff Snow Park
Flagstaff Snow Park is a favorite winter destination for residents and visitors of all ages. Take a break from tubing and warm up at one of the nearby fire pits or have lunch and hot cocoa on the picnic benches while your kids enjoy the snow.
North Pole Experience
Work alongside elves to build toys, help Santa, and grab goodies from Mrs. Claus’ Bakery. The North Pole Experience is a sparkling Christmas adventure for children. Check out the sleigh hangar and discover the magic of Santa’s workshop.
Bison, wolves, mountain goats, bears and more await in this wildlife park. The driving tour reveals some of nature’s most glorious creatures while special shows feature stunning birds of prey. The walking tour features a 20-acre area that is home to more animals in a zoo setting. Altogether, the park spans about 160 acres.
Grand Canyon Deer Farm
Families flock to Williams to pet and feed deer at this 10-acre park. Grand Canyon Deer Farm has been a tourist destination for more than 40 years. Find home décor, toys and souvenirs in the gift shop.
The Arboretum at Flagstaff
Enjoy garden, bird and wildflower tours during the summer months and learn about the featured plants and animals native to the Colorado Plateau. Additionally, hundreds of brilliantly colored butterflies are featured in the Butterfly House during the summer. Open May 26 to September 30, observe 16 species of these pollinators, including American Black Swallowtails, Viceroys and Monarchs.
Flagstaff Extreme Adventure Course
Frolic among the treetops and take it to the limit while navigating scrambling walls, wobbly bridges, rope swings and surprise obstacles. Flagstaff Extreme Adventure Course offers challenges for visitors of all ages and abilities.
Flagstaff Climbing Center
Featuring 9,000 square feet of lead climbing, bouldering and top rope terrain, Flagstaff Climbing Center is the place to scale to new heights. Need some gear? Check out the retail shop stocked with top brands and staffed by experienced climbers who know the ropes.
Flagstaff Urban Trail System
Hike, bike, walk or run on this citywide network of trails. Connecting all of urban Flagstaff, the 60 miles of trail traverse riparian areas, grasslands, forests and bustling city streets.
Enjoy world-class golf amenities and lush greens at private and public courses. Surrounded by the San Francisco Peaks and Coconino National Forest, the green goes on forever. Greater Flagstaff Chamber of Commerce and Coca-Cola host the annual Golf Classic in May at Flagstaff Ranch Golf Club.
Historic Hitchin’ Post Stables
Climb into the saddle and experience the gorgeous canyons and countryside of Northern Arizona from a different perspective. The Historic Hitchin’ Post Stables provides well-trained horses, expert guides and rides for all ages.
Arizona Nordic Village
The Arizona Nordic Village is the premier destination for year-round outdoor adventure in the depths of Coconino National Forest. Spend the night in a yurt or log-sided camper cabin and fill your day with cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, biking or running. Book early for family reunions, business meetings and weddings.
Team Run Flagstaff
Lace up your running shoes, work on your fitness and have some fun with Team Run Flagstaff. Adults meet on Tuesdays at 6 p.m. at Northern Arizona University’s outdoor track and kids run on Tuesdays at 5 p.m. Runners of all ages and abilities are invited to join.
