Community Involvement

Volunteering is alive and well in Findlay and Hancock County. No matter what your passions might be, we have plenty of opportunities to make a difference right here in our own backyard.

The United Way of Hancock County is committed to measurably improving people’s lives. They support numerous organizations who work to make our community a better place to live, work and play. They really do live up to their motto: Live United.

Our local churches support mission trips, serve community dinners and provide programs that help those who are not able to help themselves. Organizations like FOCUS Recovery & Wellness Community, the American Red Cross, Findlay Family YMCA, the Salvation Army, Open Arms Domestic Violence Shelter, Findlay Hope House for the Homeless, Cancer Patient Services, the Alzheimer’s Association and City Mission are always looking for volunteers with varying skill sets to help them meet the needs of our community. As well as the LGBTQ+ Spectrum of Findlay, which is a non-profit designed to build a safe and supportive environment for the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community.

If you are looking to become a part of a service organization that supports causes right here in our own community, throughout the country and overseas, Hancock County is home to Rotary, Kiwanis, Altrusa, Zonta, Optimist and Lions Clubs just to name a few. If your passion is literacy, the Literacy Coalition of Hancock County and the Hancock County Public Library can always use some dedicated volunteers.

There are plenty of opportunities for networking within the business community here in Hancock County. Hancock Leadership and Hancock Youth Leadership, hosted by the Chamber of Commerce, are nine-month seminar programs that give participants a chance to explore and learn more about the core of our community. Findlay Young Professionals provides opportunities to network and socialize to build business relationships.

We are proud of our commitment to helping others and we are always willing to roll up our sleeves, dig right in and go to work to make the lives of those around us a little bit better
for everyone in Hancock County. w
