Sentara RMH Medical Center

Opening its doors in 1912 as Rockingham Memorial Hospital, this well-established institution has now partnered with Sentara Healthcare to bring this area Sentara RMH Medical Center with a plethora of health care needs for the community.

Medical services include behavioral health, emergency, maternity, orthopedics, surgery, women’s health, heart and vascular, neuroscience, digestive health, imaging, joint replacement, palliative care, respiratory and pulmonary, cancer and therapy.

The medical center’s emergency department treats approximately 200 patients a day and nearly 75,000 a year. Some patients are treated in the main emergency department while those with minor injuries and illnesses can receive treatment in the fast track area.

Sentara RMH Medical Center is continually bestowed numerous accolades for its excellence in patient care and professionalism. The hospital has received Magnet recognition from the American Nurses Credentialing Center, and the U.S. News and World Report ranks the medical center as among the top in the state for gastroenterology, GI surgery, geriatrics and pulmonology.

Harrisonburg Community Health Center

Providing affordable care to Harrisonburg-Rockingham, the Harrisonburg Community Health Center has multiple locations to conveniently serve residents.

The center boasts an array of medical services for children and adults, including family medicine, behavioral health, care management, dental, women’s health and prenatal care.

Most major health care insurance programs are accepted, including Medicare and Medicaid. The center offers medical care to uninsured and under insured qualified individuals and families through a sliding fee discount program. The center also participates in a prescription discount program too.

Bellaire at Stone Port

Bellaire at Stone Port, Harrisonburg’s newest assisted living and memory care community that makes living here feel like home with the addition of beautiful amenities. Nestled in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley, Bridgewater Retirement Community offers independent living, assisted living, health and wellness options, as well as memory support for its residents. Short-term rehab and respite care are also available.

The nearly 60-acre campus, surrounded by the Blue Ridge Mountains, boasts numerous floor plans and amenities.

Bridgewater Retirement Community’s newest independent living option is The Grove. This three-story building will offer 34 apartments, featuring one- and two-bedroom units with balconies and garage parking.

Farm fresh produce also may be purchased in season in the café.

The VMRC Wellness Center offers the 50 and older crowd their own place to work out. The highly trained and friendly staff makes it easy to create an appropriate exercise prescription based on your personal goals. Classes offered include yoga, tai chi, zumba and even mountain top yoga in addition to aquatics classes for every level. The aquatics center includes a spa and warm water 25-meter pool.

VMRC is a strong supporter of the arts scene in Harrisonburg and Rockingham County. Their Park Gables Gallery is a participating venue in First Fridays Downtown – an initiative of the Arts Council of the Valley. The Park Gables Gallery hosts rotating exhibits throughout the year featuring artistic works of local, regional and national artists. Fast becoming a destination hub, VMRC’s national Juried Art Show brings thousands of visitors to the campus every June.
