Health Care
Healdsburg is served by the full-service Healdsburg District Hospital which houses the Kozel Stroke Center, imaging and lab services, pharmacy and inpatient and outpatient care. Skilled nursing, convalescent care and a memory care unit are available at Healdsburg Senior Living Community.
Residents can also find dentists, chiropractors and dermatologists in the city of Healdsburg. Several health and fitness centers are located in Healdsburg as well, with fitness equipment and classes, climbing walls, indoor and outdoor pools, personal training and senior programs.
Healdsburg Police Department
The Healdsburg Police Department is a full-service community policing organization providing a variety of programs to the community. The well-staffed department maintains a very active role with the city’s visitors and residents. Programs that are offered to the community are: Neighborhood and Business Watch, Safety Forums, Police Reserves, Vacation House checks, Adopt-A-Cop, Parent Awareness Coalition, the After School Program, Citizen Ride-Along and bilingual services.
Healdsburg Fire Department
The Healdsburg Fire Department is a combination department consisting of 10 paid staff and 22 volunteer firefighters. It provides fire protection, rescue and emergency medical services to the City and to Fitch Mountain and the lower Dry Creek Valley through a contract with the County of Sonoma, responding to approximately 1,350 incidents a year.
The department maintains a Rescue Trailer for responding to complex rescues and a Multi-Casualty Trailer for handling incidents with large numbers of patients. The department also administers the city’s disaster preparedness and weed abatement programs and conducts free fire prevention inspections for the business community. In addition to these activities, the department has been certified by the state to administer hazardous materials, hazardous waste and underground tank programs, maintaining the lowest fees for these programs in the county.
Other activities offered by the department include smoke detector installations and Certified Child Car Seat Installations, which are all done at no cost. The department also offers CPR classes in English and Spanish for a nominal charge and, in conjunction with Healdsburg Lumber and the Reserve Firefighter’s Association, conducts a comprehensive Community Emergency Response Team course and a shorter Disaster Preparedness class to teach the public how to respond to a variety of disasters.
Fire Free Fitch is a free chipping program also available to those who live on Fitch Mountain or in the High Fire Severity Zone along the city’s eastern boundary.
