Mount Carmel Hospital is a Critical Access hospital serving a three-county area in Northeast Washington. Located in Colville, our hospital opened in 1919 and was purchased in 1940 by the Domician Sisters. In 1993 the Dominicans transferred sponsorship of the hospital to the Sisters of Providence. As a member of Providence Health and Services, Mount Carmel Hospital is one of 12 ministries in Eastern Washington who, together, provide the region with a full continuum of medical care services.
Today, Mount Carmel Hospital is a progressive, full service hospital that offers advanced medical and surgical care as well as specialty support and outpatient services from more than 36 practicing doctors. Mount Carmel is one of two sites in Washington that offers its facility for rural residency training through the University of Washington Medical School.
In addition, the hospital is currently under construction, adding 70,000 square feet on two floors that will allow for adequate space to meet the needs of the most rapidly growing and essential services—outpatient surgery, diagnostic imaging and emergency services in particular.
This is both an expansion and renovation. The renovation will provide the hospital with an infrastructure equipped to accommodate new technology needs and provide a safe and
healthy atmosphere for its patients, employees and visitors. The expansion will provide private rooms for acute and critically ill patients, double emergency service treatment rooms, enlarge diagnostic imaging services, add an additional labor and delivery room, provide for private surgical recovery rooms and accommodate new outpatient procedure suites. In addition, plans include preparing “shelled in” areas for an on-site MRI enlarged laboratory and a second floor chapel. Mt. Carmel Hospital’s Rehabilitation Services offer a complete line of Physical and Occupational Therapy. We are committed to providing excellent service delivered by a licensed, professional
staff. We help patients achieve their maximum functional abilities by working with them to develop a personalized program of rehabilitation. We have specialists who work in pediatrics, balance and fall prevention, orthopedic and sports injuries, aquatics, post surgical rehabilitation, Kinesio Taping and industrial rehabilitation.
