Health Care

Dayton, Ohio’s health care industry is rapidly growing. Hospitals and physicians are putting in joint efforts to ensure residents are getting the best remedy they need. With thousands of health care facilities, doctors and the medical departments are making sure residents are in the right hands.

Dayton VA Medical Center

The Dayton VA Medical Center has been serving our nation’s heroes for more than 150 years. The center has a full range of medical services that includes primary care, surgery, mental health, neurology, prosthetics, oncology, dentistry, substance abuse recovery, telehealth, hospice, women’s health and much more. The Dayton VAMC is the only VA in the country – and only hospital in the region – to receive the Joint Commission’s Advanced Total Joint Certification, and recently received national recognition for effectively ending veteran homelessness in Montgomery County.

A national historic landmark, the Dayton VAMC is home to the Historic Grotto and Healing Gardens and a chapel originally designed and built by Civil War veterans, a new state-of-the-art Fisher House for veterans’ family members and a new food pantry dedicated to serving the needs of the veteran today. In recognition of this unique blend between honoring our historic status and utilizing technological advances to march into tomorrow, the Dayton VA has been selected as the future home of the National VA History Center, where visitors will be able to learn about more than a century’s worth of advancements in the field of providing medical care to those who wore the uniform – while veterans will be able to use the recording studio to share their own personal story of military service to be enjoyed by generations to come.

Beyond the center’s 486-bed hospital, veterans are supported by four community-based outpatient clinics in Springfield, Middletown and Lima, Ohio, and Richmond, Indiana. To learn more about the Dayton VA Medical Center, or to enroll for care here, call (937) 267-3919.
