DeWitt offers a number of options for the region’s health care needs. Ranging from full-service, state-of-the-art hospital to family health clinics, chiropractors, optometrists, and dentist. Each is committed to providing quality and patient-centered care.
Genesis Medical Center-DeWitt has served DeWitt and surrounding communities with compassionate, quality care since 1952. Throughout the years, the 13-bed hospital has successfully responded to a growing population and an evolving health care delivery system with experienced staff, services and technology that is far ahead of most rural hospitals.
Services provided at GMC-DeWitt include: 24 hour emergency care; on-site rehabilitation services including cardiac, speech, occupational, physical and respiratory therapies; IV treatments, including CT scanning, digital mammography and ultrasounds; and outpatient procedures and surgeries, including cataracts, colonoscopies, gallbladder and cyst removals, biopsies, knee scopes and pain management. Adjacent to the hospital is Westwing Place long-term care facility, and nearby is a Genesis Health Group primary care office.
GMC-DeWitt has been named a national “25 Most Wired Rural Hospital” for use of information technology in providing safe and quality care. More recently, GMC-DeWitt was awarded a second Pathway to Excellence designation by the American Nurses Credentialing Center, which recognizes health care organizations for positive practice environments where nurses excel. In 2017, the hospital was voted “Best Place to Work” by the DeWitt Chamber & Development Company and recognized in the Top 20 for Quality by the National Rural Health Association.
