In 1962 Monroe County Hospital opened its doors for patient care with 35 employees. Since that time, growth and development have been continuous with major building additions in 1967, 1974, 1980, 2000 and 2017. Recent renovations throughout the hospital on the inside and out have given a much-needed facelift to the facility. The new Oncology clinic opened its doors this past January. The 5,000 square feet of new space for the Oncology area increased the number of treatment spaces from 7 to 14 and physician exam rooms from 2 to 4. A centrally located nurse’s station within the treatment area will enhance the wonderful care our staff provides to our patients and families. This new oncology wing will allow for more patients to receive their cancer treatments in a comfortable and convenient environment close to home. Included in this addition was also the MCH Physician Group which houses three of MCH’s new physicians. The next phase of the project will involve a complete remodel of the Emergency Department. This remodel will expand the Emergency Department from 7 bed units to a 12 bed state-of-the-art department with a larger waiting area. This should take approximately 12 months from start to finish for completion.
