The Outer Banks Hospital

The Outer Banks Hospital (OBH) is a full service, community hospital offering a wide range of inpatient and outpatient services, with excellence in orthopedic, ear nose and throat care, OB/GYN, cancer care and general surgery.

Designated one of the first dementia-friendly hospitals in the state, The OBH is accredited by the Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, College of American Pathologists and the American College of Radiology. The Outer Banks Medical Group was formed in 2016 to support nine primary/specialty practices and create a seamless experience for patients from Avon to Southern Shores. CRH serves southeastern Virginia and northeastern North Carolina residents, offering a fully accredited chest pain center, an accredited center for bariatric surgery, has earned Women’s Choice Awards and operates one of the busiest emergency departments and maternity wards in the area. Its technologically advanced medical equipment includes the first mobile mammography unit offering 2-D and 3-D screenings in the region.

Sentara Albemarle Medical Center

Located in Elizabeth City, Sentara Albemarle Medical Center is a 182 licensed bed, full service health care facility, offering a wide range of services to communities in northeastern North Carolina.

With a medical staff of more than 100 physicians and a care staff of almost 1,000 employees, Sentara Albemarle Medical Center is the region’s top location for health care. Community Care Clinic of Dare

When those who experience financial difficulty have medical needs, the Community Care Clinic of Dare offers quality treatment at no cost. The clinic boasts two locations—one in Nags Head and another in Frisco—ensuring that all patients receive basic health care.

The professional and friendly staff and volunteers of doctors and nurses provide nonemergency medical treatment, health education and promotion, prescription assistance and more. For those who don’t speak English, a Spanish interpreter is available on-site for those who need assistance.

Dare County Department of Health & Human Services

Dare County Department of Health & Human Services is committed to meeting the evolving health and social needs of the community. The public health division has many units that provide medical services to the community.

The clinical services unit provides a wide range of services, including prenatal care management, maternal health, family planning, care coordination for children, newborn and post-partum assessments like breastfeeding support, child health, nutrition services and immunizations. The department’s school nurses provide screening, evaluation, treatment, health education and case management for students with a chronic disease in Dare County Schools. The Miles of Smiles mobile children’s dental clinic serves Dare and Hyde counties through a rotating schedule.

Dare Home Health is a Medicare certified agency, which provides in-home services for patients experiencing a medical challenge and teaches patients and families to function as independently as possible. Services include medication and disease management, post-surgical assessments and rehabilitative care, infusion therapy and wound care.

Dare Hospice provides end-of-life care to assist patients to live fully until death. Care focuses on the patient and their caregivers with an emphasis on comfort and symptom management.
