Health and Wellness

Years ago, we had to drive to neighboring cities for our health care needs. Kernersville has turned that deficiency into a strength. Kernersville now has its own full-service hospital, Kernersville Medical Center, part of the Novant system.

Novant Health Kernersville Medical Center opened in March 2011 and is a state-of-the-art medical and surgical facility with 50 inpatient rooms, an emergency room, an intensive care unit and surgical services. Kernersville Medical Center offers a fully accredited comprehensive bariatric surgery center, infusion services, a breast health center and MAKOplasty robotic surgery. Novant Health regularly achieves top scores in health care quality ratings, added several specialized medical services, and hired more than 300 new staff members.

“Being a sports enthusiast, Kernersville offers so much for our family. I can’t tell you how thick our folder is at the local imaging center. We are always taken care of and just a short car ride away from excellent care.” — Kernersville resident

In addition, Cone Health Med Center Kernersville has also been recently established, containing an urgent care center plus many specialty practices, all in one facility. It provides a one-stop shop for health care needs. Wake Forest Baptist Health and Cornerstone Health have partnered for numerous additional health care offices. Wake Forest Baptist Health also provides an educational piece with its School of Medicine, just a few miles away.

Opened in 2016, the VA’s Kernersville Health Care Center is a four-story regional outpatient clinic to service those who served our country through the military. The 40-acre VA clinic is positioned on Medical Center Parkway, across the street from the Kernersville Medical Center, allowing veterans to also take advantage of specialty medical offices in the area. Twenty different outpatient medical services are housed in the VA clinic.

There are many intangible benefits of Kernersville’s extensive medical facilities. Emergency services are just a few minutes away for Kernersville residents. Patients visits can now be done on a lunch break, because of the convenience of the hospital.

The bottom line is, Kernersville residents are safer now, because of the presence of all major health care providers of the region.

Health care also relates to mental health. CareNet Counseling of Kernersville is a Christian counseling center, located on the campus of Main Street United Methodist Church. Thanks to the oversight and support of Wake Forest Baptist Health, counseling fees are based on family income, and subsidized by the hospital.

Assisted living facilities are available throughout our community of Kernersville, offering the best care and amenities possible.
