Leyden Township Services


Established in 1850, Leyden Township government serves the residents in the Villages of Elmwood Park, River Grove, Franklin Park, Schiller Park and portions of the Villages of Norridge, Park Ridge and Rosemont and the City of Northlake. Also included in Leyden Township is a large unincorporated area.

At Leyden Township, our mission is to provide leadership and coordination to develop a community that is dedicated to maintaining and improving the quality of life for our residents in Leyden Township. Our office staff is here to serve the many needs of our residents. Whether the resident needs property tax information, senior services or one of the other numerous services we offer, our knowledgeable staff is ready to help from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Among our basic functions are human services, including the funding of social services and programs. We provide convenience services such as voter registration, and notary public as it relates to Township services. We are a resource for people in need and provide services that include assistance for those individuals and families who have fallen on hard times. The Needy Family Fund provides food baskets and other essentials for families in need year-round with larger provisions during the holiday season. Leyden Township accepts donations in the form of non-perishable foods and cash donations. Donations are always welcome at the Town Hall.
The Assessor’s Office provides assistance to taxpayers, real estate agents, appraisers and municipalities on property tax related matters that include:

• Completing exemption applications
• Assistance with assessment questions
• Filing appeals with Assessor’s Office and the Board of Review
• Assist with application for Certificate of Error
• Filling out form for name and address change
• Sales transfer history available
• Sidwell maps available for public use
• FREE Notary Public service for all assessment related documents.

The Leyden Township Veterans Affairs coordinator assists veterans with their needs and concerns. Leyden Township Commission for the Disabled and the Leyden United Senior Committee provides funding for senior programs throughout the Township.
Leyden Township sponsors many programs for senior citizens throughout the Township including Exercise Sessions, 55 Alive, Rules of the Road classes, Telephone Reassurance and the Handyman Program. Seniors can also attend social events at the Carl Fiorito Senior Citizen Center located at 2601 Mannheim Rd. in Franklin Park.

Seniors can obtain Subsidized Taxi Coupons, RTA Reduced Fare Cards and Handicap Parking Permits at The Town Hall, located at 2501 Mannheim Rd., Franklin Park.

Our Community Center offers a wide variety of programs for the young as well as young-at-heart. Brochures are available at the Bradly A. Stephens Community Center located at 2620 Mannheim Rd., Franklin Park.
