Owned by the City of Midland and managed by the Midland Chamber of Commerce, the new Bush Convention Center is truly a jewel in the heart of downtown. The new facility boasts a 20,000 square foot exhibit hall, a 6000 square foot ballroom and a 3000 square foot meeting room – all of which can be divided into smaller spaces as needed. The facility is designed to accommodate a variety of events from large industry conventions to family reunions, wedding receptions and much more.

Centennial Park (opening summer 2020)

Adjacent to the Barbara & George H.W. Bush Convention Center, Centennial Park is a public-private partnership that will offer lush greenspace, a splashpad, a nature play area, a dog park, a promenade with café seating, a stage for large and small events and much more. Once completed, the park will be available for rental in tandem with the Bush Convention Center or alone.

Christensen Stadium

Opened in 1952 and seating 3,500, the stadium was home to Texas League baseball for three decades and used by the Midland Rockhounds until 2002. It is currently used by the Midland College Chaparrals baseball team and area high school teams.

Since its 2006 debut, Horseshoe Arena has hosted more than 500 events, including concerts, sporting events, championship rodeos, trade shows, conventions and equestrian competitions. A variety of indoor-outdoor configurations make it a popular venue for community events and wedding receptions. With over 90,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting space in the main building, educational facility, arena and terrace, this complex is versatile enough to accommodate groups from 30 to 4,000. With the added amphitheater, the facility can also host large outdoor concerts as well.

Featuring a natural grass playing surface and seating 10,750, the stadium has a press area, radio/TV booths, a PA/scoreboard booth, coaches’ boxes and two player locker rooms.

Scharbauer Sports Complex

Scharbauer Sports Complex includes Security Bank Ballpark, home of the Midland RockHounds, with fixed seating for 5,000, plus additional seating on the grass berm and two picnic areas with seating for an additional 2,500 attendees; Grande Communications Stadium, with seating for 15,000 and open seating for 3,000 on grass berms; and Cimarex Energy Pavilion, a multi-use space between the two stadiums. The complex features state-of-the-art facilities for football, soccer and baseball and was designed to also be used for music concerts, antique/car/RV displays and shows. The facility also has four full size multi-purpose fields featuring artificial turf. These fields can host soccer, football and lacrosse events/tournaments.

The Way Retreat Center

The Way Retreat Center is a non-denominational facility that provides an enchanting serene environment for Christian Spiritual Retreats, Corporate Retreats and Meetings, Special Events, and Weddings. The retreat center provides comfortable overnight accommodations with 39 bedrooms for up to 96 guests, dining facilities, a chapel, a bridal suite, a hacienda for corporate retreats, conference rooms and several outdoor spaces.

Yucca Theatre

Designed by Fort Worth architect Wyatt C. Hedrick and opened in 1929, the Yucca Theatre is known for its Assyrian-style architecture. The interior features ornate columns and scrollwork, gilded lions and elaborate lighting fixtures. Black marble columns at the entrance frame the cut sandstonme exterior.

Operating for years as a movie palace and stage for vaudeville acts, the theater closed in 1974. Diligent volunteers and building professionals restored the Texas Historical Medallion Landmark in 1981, and today the theater showcases the Summer Mummers’ zany performances. The theater troupe’s special blend of melodrama, eclectic acts, dance numbers and audience participation has been fulfilling appreciative audiences for dozens of seasons.
