Parks and Recreation in Bloomfield


Bloomfield hosts many events throughout the year. It seems there is always something for everyone.

The Bloomfield Chamber of Commerce and Visitor Center sponsors many of the events in cooperation with other civic and religious organizations and community volunteers. Some of the activities you may wish to attend are the annual Spring Egg-citement & Fishing Festival, Fiesta de San Juan Celebration, Bloomfield Days, Local Grower’s Market, Annual Harvest Festival, Santa in the Park and the Bloomfield Luminarias.

Parks and Recreation in Bloomfield

Bloomfield’s Parks and Recreation Department can certainly boast about a job well done. The Chris Keffalos Baseball Complex has six baseball and softball fields.

Bloomfield frequently hosts state and regional tournaments for the American Baseball Congress. The Chamblee Soccer Complex has four excellently maintained soccer fields used by hundreds of young athletes from the area. Salmon Park has basketball and tennis courts, and serves as a meeting place for young and old alike, whether they are using the picnic areas or climbing around on the playground equipment. Children have been known to cool their toes in the bountiful waters of the San Juan River as it flows past Riverside Park.

For those individuals looking for a good workout, the city of Bloomfield owns and operates its own fitness center. The facility utilizes Universal Super Circuit weight machines, racquetball courts, a gymnasium, and offers aerobics classes. The fitness center is open 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, and from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturdays.

The land surrounding Bloomfield can best be described as a Sportsman’s Paradise. Spectacular hiking, camping, boating and water-skiing are abundant in the area. Both downhill and cross-country snow skiing are just a short drive away. The rolling landscape makes a perfect home for nationally top-ranked golf courses. Deer, elk, and other game are abundant. And, of course, there is the world-class trout fishing. People travel to Bloomfield from around the world for the chance to cast their fly in the “quality waters” of the San Juan River.

The San Juan River Valley is also home to an award winning winery, Wines of the San Juan. This attraction is gaining attention as one of the best up and coming wineries in the state. As a work in progress, they have a beautiful vineyard, winery and tasting room.
