Lincolnshire-Prairie View School District 103 is a nationally recognized, award-winning elementary school district in Lake County. The school district serves approximately 1,863 students in from early childhood through eighth grade from the communities of Lincolnshire, Prairie View and portions of Buffalo Grove, Vernon Hills, Mettawa, Riverwoods and Lake Forest. Students attend Laura B. Sprague School, Half Day School and Daniel Wright Junior High Schools.
The school district holds numerous awards and certifications. Some of the highlights include:
- District 103 schools have received national recognition for excellence in education through the U.S. Department of Education’s Blue Ribbon Schools Program.
- Thirteen staff members have achieved National Board Certification from the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards. It is the most respected professional certification available in K-12 education.
- Two D103 teachers have been named Golden Apple winners for excellence in teaching. The Golden Apple award recognizes exemplary school leaders in Illinois.
- District 103 has earned the Financial Recognition Award from the State of Illinois since 2004. This award indicates that D103 is in the highest category of financial strength.
- Three teachers across District 103 have been recognized with the Symetra Heroes in the Classroom for outstanding leadership and instructional skills.
- Chicago Magazine ranked Daniel Wright Junior High School as the second-best middle school in Lake County.
- Science, academic and history teams have all placed in the top five at national competitions.
