It is easy to move freight and get around in St. Charles County. Major highways include:

Airports

Smartt Field, St. Charles County’s airport, is less than 15 minutes from the attractions, shops and businesses of downtown St. Charles and is less than 30 minutes from St. Louis. The airport can accommodate aircraft up to 12,500 pounds and offers many of the services of a larger airport, such as rental cars and a pilot lounge, without the hassles. Other nearby airports include the Spirit of St. Louis Airport in Chesterfield Valley, Creve Coeur Airport and St. Louis Lambert International Airport, all less than 20 minutes away.

Train

Two commercial railroad systems also run through St. Charles County: Norfolk Southern Railway and Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway. Amtrak passenger rail service is available from three nearby locations – Downtown St. Louis, Kirkwood or Washington, Missouri.

Boat

From large industrial/commercial barging operations to recreational boating, the rivers are a part of the culture of our community. For those drawn to more scenic routes, the Brussels and Golden Eagle Ferries provide access from northern St. Charles County across the Mississippi River to the Great River Road in Illinois.
