The Heart of the Valley communities are a great place to visit for fun and recreation for all ages, in all seasons.
Golf on a premier golf course spring, summer and fall, and the rest of the year be 10 minutes from wooded cross country ski trails. You can feel the thrill of windsurfing across Lake Winnebago in summer, or in winter tug an 80-pound sturgeon through a shanty sheltered hole in the ice.
Parks and Recreation
The Green Bay Packers play professional football just to the north, the Milwaukee Brewers play professional baseball and the Milwaukee Bucks professional basketball just to the south. Ten minutes away you can watch Timber Rattlers Baseball, a minor league team affiliated with the Brewers. The Green Bay Gamblers, a Tier 1 Junior Ice Hockey team plays just 20 minutes away.
See a Broadway production at the Performing Arts Center in Appleton or stroll through one of the many museums and historic sites. From the 177-year-old Grignon Mansion in Kaukauna to the brand new 100-foot-tall, authentic 1850s designed Dutch windmill in Little Chute, you can spend your days exploring the area’s history.
High Cliff state park on Lake Winnebago has a marina, historic sites, a campground, picnic areas and shelters, a beach, wildlife, an observation tower and play areas. Many facilities are accessible for people with disabilities.
The 1000 Islands Environmental Center provides the public a place to enjoy our natural resources. Recreation is provided by the many miles of trails, which can be used for hiking, cross country skiing and snowshoeing. It is also home to numerous eagles during the winter months and on the right days you will see these glorious birds soaring above you with their wings spread, gliding on the currents.
Wisconsin International Raceway is a multi-purpose motor sports facility presenting weekly racing programs on both the oval tracks and the quarter-mile drag strip. WIR is among the most well-known and respected racing facilities in the nation.
