Community Introduction DuBois May Be Rural, But…
The Greater DuBois area works. The region leads the world in the powdered metal industry. Local manufacturers use powdered metal technology, making parts as small as bearings and bushings to as large as the machines used by the industry. Local manufacturers produce a variety of products to ship worldwide—from hardwood lumber and logs, glass and plastic containers, gourmet foods, machinery and machined parts to the locomotives and rail cars used in the mining industry. DuBois serves as the region’s transportation hub because of its strategic location at the intersections of Interstate 80 and routes 219 and 322. Our companies also have access to rail freight lines. The DuBois Regional Airport offers commercial and general aviation services. It is a designated Foreign Trade Zone, which can eliminate or reduce the tariff and duties that U.S. businesses pay on imports and exports.
