Residents know how lucky they are to live in The Woodlands area, especially when it comes to health care. The Woodlands is home to exceptional, high-ranking hospitals and medical providers that make patients’ health care a top priority.
Texas Children’s Hospital The Woodlands
Texas Children’s Hospital The Woodlands opened its doors in April 2017 and is the first free-standing hospital devoted to children’s care for communities north of Houston. Located in one of the fastest growing areas in north Houston, the hospital, which has a staff of more than 800, has already provided thousands of patients with specialty care closer to home.
The outpatient building includes 82 exam rooms that support clinics for major pediatric subspecialties. These outpatient clinic offerings include more than 25 pediatric subspecialties including allergy and immunology, audiology, cancer and hematology, cardiology, dermatology, therapy services, diabetes and endocrine, otolaryngology, gastroenterology, genetics, ophthalmology, orthopedic surgery, pediatric surgery, plastic surgery, pulmonary medicine, sports medicine, and urology, among others.
The hospital features the area’s only Emergency Center staffed 24/7 with dedicated emergency medicine physicians. In addition to the 20 Emergency Center rooms, the hospital delivers expert pediatric care in 32 inpatient rooms, four operating rooms, 12 radiology suites (with CT, MRI, interventional radiology, basic radiography, fluoroscopy and ultrasound capabilities) and 28 critical care rooms. Due to increased demand related to continued population growth, an expansion effort is already underway to add 14 additional inpatient beds by January 2019. The team at Texas Children’s Hospital The Woodlands continually assesses the needs of the community to ensure the hospital is fully prepared to provide for the ever-changing needs of patients in its community.
The Woodlands and surrounding communities also have access to 12 Texas Children’s Pediatrics practices — one of which is located on-site at Texas Children’s Hospital The Woodlands — and a convenient Texas Children’s Urgent Care location.
