Celebrates 50 Years!
The Barrington Area Chamber of Commerce (BACC) celebrated its 50th Anniversary with more than 250 business and community leaders at the 2019 Annual Dinner & Scholarship Fundraiser on January 17 at Avante Banquets and Conference Center. The evening was a celebration of Chamber accomplishments and people. During the evening the 2019 BACC Business Awards were also presented.
“Our Chamber Business Award recipients are individuals who passionately pursue their dreams, setting the bar high for excellence and service,” said new 2019 BACC Chairman of the Board Dennis Kelly of FGMK Insurance. Kelly then announced the following awards:
Community Partner of the Year Recipient: Barrington Campus Life Center; New Business of the Year Recipient: 101 West Liberty, by Monroe Residential Partners; Volunteer of the Year Recipient: Ilona House of Hoffman Estates Animal Hospital; Rookie of the Year Recipient: Serena Kleinstub DC, of Deer Park Chiropractic; BACC Leadership Award: Tom Cramer of Wintrust Mortgage.
In addition to the professional awards, BACC announced the winners of the BACC Young Entrepreneurs Award: The Squeaky Clean Car Wash team from the Barrington High School Business Incubator program. Team members included Patrick Hoelter, Alex Reyther, Will Mogler and Tim Nichols from Barrington High School
BACC Honors Outstanding Women Leaders at OWL EVENT
The Barrington Area Chamber of Commerce (BACC) and Women’s Biz Net (WBN) honored local women leaders during their Outstanding Women Leaders (OWL) Awards Luncheon on Sept. 27, 2018, at Biltmore Country Club, 160 Biltmore Dr. in North Barrington.
“There are women among us who serve as role models, breaking barriers and setting the bar high for their accomplishments professionally and to the community,” said BACC President/CEO Suzanne Corr. “We developed the OWL awards to thank those amazing women leaders who make a tremendous impact on the lives of others.”
OWL Award recipients honored that day were Karen Lambert, President of Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital, for Professional Excellence; Joy Wagner, RN, BSN and Founder of fitMS NeuroBalance Center, for Community Impact; Susan McConnell, Founder and Executive Director of Let It Be Us, for Nonprofit Leadership; and Jennifer Prell, Founder and President of Paxem, Inc. and Elderwerks, for Mentorship and Education.
BACC Hosts Annual Public Town Hall Forum
The Third Annual Public Town Hall Forum, featuring updates from local taxing bodies, was held on April 24, 2019 at The Garlands of Barrington, 1000 Garlands Ln., Barrington. The event, hosted by The Barrington Area Chamber of Commerce (BACC), provided updates on public services provided by the taxing bodies in the Barrington area.
“This public town hall forum offers residents and business leaders in the Barrington Area a chance to hear first-hand vital information about how their tax dollars are being used in our communities,” said BACC President/CEO Suzanne Corr. “Attendees also have the opportunity to submit questions to the speakers.”
Speakers included representatives from the Barrington Area Library, Barrington Community School District 220, Barrington Countryside Fire Protection District, Barrington Hills Park District, Barrington Park District, Barrington Township, Cuba Township, Harper College and South Barrington Park District.
Other legislative events hosted by BACC include the Economic Summit in February and the Legislative Breakfast in October.

FREE Barrington Family Expo Showcases Local Resources
From fun hands-on art activities to free giveaways and local youth entertainment, the Barrington Family Expo held April 7 at Barrington High School offered something for everyone. The event, co-hosted by the Barrington Area Chamber of Commerce and the Barrington High School Fine Arts Department, featured performances by Bataille Academie of the Danse and the Barrington Children’s Choir, miniature therapy horses from SOUL Harbour Ranch Animal Therapy Program, a Super Hero Photo Booth, food and refreshments and nearly 90 booths showcasing business and community resources.
“This is a community event dedicated to connecting local families with the first-rate programs and resources available in the Barrington region,” said BACC President/CEO Suzanne Corr. “The Expo is a family affair – with hands-on activities for all ages, business and community booths, local entertainment, and more. It’s a great afternoon outing for the entire family.”
Admission and parking to the Family Expo is always free. Attendees can also enter to win a Barrington Area Shopping Spree. The 2020 Family Expo will be held on Sunday, April 5.
