The Carol Stream Public Library has been helping residents create, search, play and learn for over 50 years. The library building will be fully renovated in spring 2020 and will feature a patio, expanded meeting room space, a quiet reading room and a larger early literacy area. During construction, the library will remain open with all materials accessible.
Resource sharing at the library provides Carol Stream residents with $2.77 in value for every dollar in tax revenue. The library is a local job creator: 38% of employees are village residents. Supporting the local economy, the library gives preference to area businesses for goods and services, provides opportunities for career growth with job training resources and sponsors scholarships for adults returning to finish high school.
The whole family is welcome at the library. Preschoolers enjoy story times, a learn-through-play area and digital storybooks. School-aged kids love science experiments, book clubs and visiting performers. Teens have a place to study, share their interests and volunteer. The library supports lifelong learning for adults and provides resources and classes on software, arts and crafts, exercise and connecting with neighbors.
