Kellett’s Korner

In 1968, Tommy Kellett opened his snack bar in a 400-square foot addition to Kellett’s Shell. Tommy’s father, who owned the gas station, rented the space to him. When the snack bar opened, the space lacked heat, air conditioning and equipment, yet the business was a success from the very first day.

When their father retired in 1983, sons Tommy and Jim bought Kellett Shell. In 1993, they moved the business to 602 N. Main under the Citgo Brand. The brothers saw the potential for a convenience store, a large bay for a service center, a wrecker service and Tommy’s Snack Bar. The snack bar is celebrating 50 years of business in Mauldin.

With Tommy and Jim at the helm, this family-owned business attributes its success to the support of the Kellett family, including Ann, Tommy’s wife of 56 years. They treat their customers with good service, great food and a good customer relationship, making all customers feel welcomed.
