The 30-Minute ER Service Pledge strives to get every patient in the emergency department through the door and seen by a physician, physician assistant or nurse practitioner in 30 minutes or less. Every patient that visits the emergency room at Heartland Regional goes through triage, and the most severe patients are seen first.

Shawnee Health Care is a full-service primary care clinic providing primary medical care, including family medicine, pediatric care and integrated behavioral health for all ages. Additional services include nutrition counseling, chronic disease management, case management and care coordination, counseling and medication-assisted treatment for opioid use disorder.

Shawnee Health Care also operates primary care clinics in Carbondale, Carterville and Murphysboro, with two dental clinics in Carbondale and Marion; OB/GYN clinic in Carbondale; two school-based health centers in Carbondale Community High School and Marion High School; a behavioral health clinic in Carbondale; a same-day clinic in Carbondale; and an in-house pharmacy in Murphysboro for Shawnee Health Care patients.

Since its inception in 1971, Shawnee Health Service has worked to improve the health and welfare of southern Illinois residents through promoting, developing and administering quality, comprehensive health and social services.

In January 2020, Shawnee Health Service will open Shawnee Health Care at 3111 Williamson County Pkwy. in Marion.

MARION VA MEDICAL CENTER

The VA Medical Center in Marion provides care to 43,722 veterans annually in 27 Southern Illinois counties, eight Southwestern Indiana counties and 17 Northwest Kentucky counties.

The VA Medical Center, which opened in 1942, is a general medical and surgical facility that operates 55 acute-care beds and a 60-bed Community Living Center. Eight outpatient clinics provide primary care and behavioral medicine services are located in Effingham and Mt. Vernon, Illinois; Paducah, Hanson, Owensboro and Mayfield, Kentucky; and Vincennes and Evansville, Indiana.

With more than 3,800 physicians, advanced practice providers and staff, Southern Illinois Health Care is the region’s second largest employer with a primary service area including Williamson, Jackson, Perry, Franklin, Johnson, Union and Saline counties.
