We are happy to be a part of the 2019 Lafayette Community Guide. We appreciate the opportunity to showcase Lafayette as a community that embraces industry and technology, while staying true to our rich culture and heritage.
One of the most important aspects of our hospitality is making sure people experience the best of Lafayette. As a center of Cajun and Creole heritage, our community boasts award-winning food, music and hospitality. Initiatives like CREATE (Culture, Recreation, Entertainment, Arts, Tourism, Economy) work to strengthen Lafayette’s cultural identity to attract more regional, national, and international workers, visitors, and businesses to Lafayette.
While encouraging tourism, we are also working to give visitors and residents an experience worthy of our “Happiest City in the U.S.” title. Lafayette is especially happy to offer the fastest internet service in the U.S., thanks to our locally-owned LUS Fiber Gig connection. Our Fiber has played a tremendous role in attracting and retaining businesses and workers, while also helping to diversify the local business climate.
Our unique blend of culture and innovation also attracts a number of businesses to set up shop in the Hub City. Tech giant CGI recently doubled its Acadiana workforce, adding 400 Lafayette jobs.
Though we are making great strides in strengthening our cultural identity and economy, our biggest draw is our people. Lafayette is most proud of its friendly people and joie de vivre.
