Riverside has 44 parks covering a total of 2,704 acres, allowing residents to enjoy a variety of sporting and outdoor activities. The various parks throughout the city include wilderness areas; the University of California, Riverside, Botanical Gardens; the California Citrus State Historical Park; and beautiful Fairmount Park with its large center lake, plus many neighborhood parks with extensive facilities for individual and team sports, as well as family outings. Activities in Riverside range from golfing, rock climbing and biking to a variety of other outdoor adventures. Young people have access to a wide range of competitive sports, after-school programs and classes. There are also a variety of activities geared towards adults and programs available to seniors.
Hanger 18, is home to more than 12,000 square feet of textured climbing terrain, a massive free-standing boulder with top-out sections up to 20 feet high, and a huge selection of toprope and lead routes for climbers of all ages and ability levels to enjoy. For more information, call 951-359-5040.
