Railway

The Rapid City, Pierre & Eastern Railroad serves Rapid City and provides rail service to the east, south and west. The southern Black Hills is served by Burlington Northern/Santa Fe Railroad which also serves the Powder River Basin of Wyoming.

Public Transportation

Whether you need to get to work, school, or you are just headed downtown for a day of shopping, Rapid Transit System offers affordable fares and convenient routes to get you to your destination in a safe, efficient manner. Annually Rapid Transit System travels more than one half-million miles and provides more than 400,000 passenger trips throughout Rapid City on its three services:

  • Rapid Ride – Public Bus System – students ride free
  • Dial-A-Ride – curb-to-curb/door-to-door transportation service
  • City View Trolley – seasonal, Memorial Day Weekend to Labor Day Weekend
