There are many fun and exciting things to experience in our communities, so we hope you take full advantage of them, regardless of the season.
For history buffs, we are proud to be the home of the seventh President of the United States, Andrew Jackson. His home, The Hermitage, has been carefully restored with most of Jackson’s original belongings, and the grounds tell the story of the Jackson’s livelihood, most specifically, The Hermitage Cotton Plantation. We also boast the Historic Buchanan Log House and Two Rivers Mansion, historic homes that you definitely want to see, as well as Clover Bottom and Belair Mansions.
For those looking for a little more excitement, on the banks of the Cumberland River is the home of country music, The Grand Ole Opry. Take a tour, or better yet, take in a show. The Nashville Palace is right across the road, and has been the locale to launch many careers, like those of Lorrie Morgan, Ricky Van Shelton and Randy Travis. Who knows who might just pop in!
Want to “shop till you drop?” We have that covered, as well. Music Valley Village offers unique entertainment and one-of-a-kind shops; Opry Mills offers name brand stores, designer options and a kids’ play area. Whether it’s steak, seafood, breakfast or burgers, there is something at either Music Valley Village or Opry Mills to satisfy the palate of the pickiest of eaters.
If you’re looking for other interesting eats, head over to the heart of Donelson. Foodies will enjoy sampling our local flavor such as Nectar Urban Cantina’s tacos and margheritas, Homegrown Tap Room’s local brews, and Nashville Hot Chicken and Boozie slushies at nationally recognized, Party Fowl. For more traditional fare, visit long-time local favorite, Hermitage Steakhouse, for their famous salad bar and a mouth-watering steak.
Donelson-Hermitage is also the home to Percy Priest Lake where water sports abound. We have several parks, and the Stones River Greenway, traversing nearly 10 miles of a walkable and bikeable pathway.
This magazine is meant to be a guide to help you make the most out of your visit or help identify a service, business or organization that might assist you in your every-day life. On behalf of our members of the Donelson-Hermitage Chamber of Commerce, our Board of Directors, and staff, we hope that you find our community enjoyable and the businesses welcoming.
