Health Care in Edmond

Health Care in Edmond Oklahoma
OU Medical Center Edmond

OU Medical Center Edmond continues its tradition of providing Edmond citizens with quality care close to home. 2018 was a monumental year for OU Medicine, Inc. as the enterprise converted to a locally owned and operated not-for-profit health system committed to providing Oklahomans with access to advanced medical care close to home. OU Medicine’s Stephenson Cancer Center earned the National Cancer Institute’s highest rating in 2018 and ranks among the top two percent of all cancer facilities nationwide. This designation means Oklahomans no longer have to travel out of state for cutting-edge cancer treatment and research.

Closer to home, OU Medical Center Edmond works to combine the best in academic medicine with the accessibility of a community hospital. The 86-bed facility specializes in surgical procedures not normally found in community hospitals including robotic surgery, advanced urology procedures, sinus cavity procedures, complex orthopedics, thoracic surgery and colorectal surgery. The goal to bring the best physicians to Edmond so that patients and their families can stay in their community for their medical needs.

Recent additions to the roster of services offered at OU Medical Center Edmond include a new Interventional Cardiac Cath Lab, which opened in late 2017. Utilizing advanced technology, the interventional cath lab allows physicians to complete a variety of procedures – from cardiology to pain management – that would normally require a trip to a larger hospital.

To assist aging adults in living their healthiest lives, a number of senior-friendly initiatives recently launched at the hospital including the Senior Friendly ER, which not only provides for the physical needs of the patient, but also the emotional and after-care needs as well. The outpatient behavioral health program, THRIVE, assists adults 55 and older who need additional emotional support as they work on behavioral health issues.

OU Medical Center Edmond looks forward to another year of growth in 2019 with new physicians, surgeries and services joining the portfolio of health options available at the hospital. As part of the OU Medicine family, we are proud of the role we serve in caring for our fellow Oklahomans.
