Public & Private Schools in Vicksburg

The Vicksburg-Warren School District serves nearly 9,500 students with eight elementary schools, two junior high schools and two high schools—Vicksburg High School and Warren Central High School.

A dedicated administration and committed teachers are the backbone of this school system that generates educated and well-rounded young people.

Several private schools operate in Warren County, including Porters Chapel Academy and St. Francis Xavier/St. Aloysius High School. Both offer Kindergarten through twelfth grade courses. Newly founded Augustine Classical Christian School offers education to students grades nine through twelve. Campus Prep School receives children ages three years old through the seventh grade and Vicksburg Community School hosts students in the third through twelfth grade.

Hinds Community College, Vicksburg-Warren Campus, has a full range of programs available to students. They offer college-level academic, technical and career classes in business and office technology, practical nursing, and electrical technology—just to name a few. In order to meet the needs of Warren County’s workforce, specialized programs in welding, electricity, computer technology, safety and managerial skills are also offered.

Close by universities include Alcorn State University, Mississippi College, Jackson State University and Millsaps College. WES Graduate Institute is an association of universities and the U.S. Army Engineer Waterways Experiment Station (WES). Under this program, academic credit and graduate degrees can be earned from member universities through course work offered at WES. The Institute supports graduate study and research. It further enhances the exchange of scientific and technological information between the faculty of member universities and the researchers of WES. Member universities in the WES Graduate Institute include Louisiana State University, Mississippi State University and Texas A & M.
