town of norway welcome
The Town of Norway was established in 1847 by pioneers, mainly from Norway. It is said that these adventurous people found the area similar to their homeland. Today, there are 8,000 people living in the township. Three lakes – Wind Lake, Waubeesee Lake and Long Lake – provide great summer and winter activities. Agriculture is an important part of our economy, and the town has one of the largest concentration of sod farms in the Midwest. These natural resources provide a beautiful drive throughout the area.
Diverse businesses thrive in the Norway Industrial Park and contribute to the economy of the region. Norway is home to many restaurants, a custard stand, an indoor archery range and the first winery in the area. Racine County Colonel Heg Park is located across from the town hall.
Adjoining the town hall grounds is Meyer Park, a 22-acre town park containing a barn and two shelters available for rent. Hundreds of young people play baseball and other sports throughout the year in the park. Every September the businesses in the community contribute toward a wonderful community picnic for all to enjoy. The Norway Town Board is proud to have the lowest municipal tax rate in the County of Racine, has a very comprehensive recreation program, enjoys working with adjoining communities to share ideas and services whenever possible and is proud to be a member of the Muskego Chamber of Commerce.
Cordially,
