The Lancaster County Chamber of Commerce is excited to introduce you to our community.
Lancaster County, established in 1785, actually began in the 1750s with a group of Scotch Irish settlers seeking inexpensive land and religious freedom. The county, with its red rose insignia, can trace its namesake to 15th-century England’s House of Lancaster, which fought in the War of the Roses against the House of York. Today, Lancaster County still wears the red rose on her flag and people are still flocking to our area to become residents.
Located just south of metropolitan Charlotte, North Carolina, Lancaster is the fastest-growing county in South Carolina and, recently, ranked as the 26th fastest-growing county in the nation. We are located just under three hours from the coast or the Blue Ridge Mountains. Today, people and businesses locate to Lancaster for reduced taxes, a friendly atmosphere and a climate that allows you to enjoy the outdoors nearly year-around.
Locally, you can enjoy a vibrant art scene, visit a local brewery or enjoy great barbecue in downtown Lancaster, pick fresh strawberries and blueberries, hike along a portion of the Carolina Thread Trail and end your day with a stay in a historic stately inn, followed the next morning by the best breakfast you can imagine prepared by a European-trained chef. Lancaster County is rich in history, distinctly Southern in her charm and now quickly becoming an urban portion of a major city. This is truly an area that you can have it all.
We hope you will come visit and decide to call Lancaster County home.
