Wellness is a Boon to Chandler
Chandler is home to a world-class health care system – one that continues to expand to meet the needs of a growing population.
Anchoring the medical community is Chandler Regional Medical Center, centrally located at the corner of Frye and Dobson roads. Its humble beginnings as a true community hospital started with only 40 beds, and fewer employees than volunteer staff. Today, Chandler Regional – a part of the Dignity Health Network – is a 338-bed, nonprofit facility with more than 2,500 employees, and almost 1,000 doctors on staff representing all major specialties.
The Chandler Regional staff cares for 64,000 patients a year in its emergency department and delivers 4,000 babies each year. The hospital is equipped to care for patients with high-risk pregnancies and boasts a neonatal intensive care unit to care for babies born as early as 28 weeks. It also houses the Southeast Valley’s only Level I trauma center. Chandler Regional Medical Center is also a tremendous community partner, providing $27 million in charity care to individuals and families in need.
The benefits that these and other health care facilities in Chandler provide to the community are impressive. The Arizona Orthopedic Surgical Hospital is also part of the Dignity network and focuses on the surgical management of orthopedic and spinal conditions, podiatric (foot) conditions and pain management. The hospital’s surgeons perform 4,180 surgical procedures every year, including 800 inpatient procedures.
Banner Health Center at the corner of Alma School and the Santan Freeway provides primary care health care services, but also has plans to expand with a full-scale hospital on the site within the next year. Banner CEO Peter Fine was recognized in Modern Healthcare’s 100 Top Influential People list and they have been deemed one of the Top 5 Health Systems in the U.S. by Truven Health Analytics.
Chandler residents enjoy a plethora of conveniently-located health care options, whether you are in search of emergency trauma care or preventative medicine.
But it does not stop there. Chandler is also home to a number of companies involved in medical research and development, including Tivity Health, CoValence Laboratories, CVS and Walgreens pharmaceutical centers, Apria Health Care and Arizona Nutritional Supplements. Like Chandler itself, the local medical community continues to expand and improve to meet the growing needs of its care base.
