Police Department
The Fresno Police Department works closely with the community and relies on residents’ assistance to fully implement many of its programs such as Crime Stoppers, Neighborhood Watch and Citizens on Patrol. The police department also works to build trust in the community leading to greater levels of cooperation.
The mission of the Fresno Police Department is to enhance safety, service and trust with the community. Officers attempt to keep the community safe by preventing citizens from becoming victims of crime or from being injured in traffic collisions. They believe trust from the community provides every department member with the foundation required to carry out their duties.
Sheriff’s Department
The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office has proudly served its citizens since 1856. In partnership with the community, they have a mission dedicated to excellence in the delivery of public safety services. Their vision is to forge an ongoing partnership with the community based on communication, cooperation and trust. This partnership will promote an environment that ensures safety and peace, while treating all persons with respect and dignity. Fire Department
Established in 1877, the Fresno Fire Department is one of the oldest fire departments in the nation. Today, 321 filled sworn safety firefighting members serve over half million residents, spreading over 115 square miles. They provide emergency response from a total of 24 fire stations located throughout the City of Fresno, contract areas (Fig Garden and North Central Fire Protection Districts) and Fresno Yosemite International Airport. Each station is staffed with a three- to four-person engine or truck company and divided geographically into three battalions, each managed by a fire battalion chief. Additionally, 30 civilians provide vital support functions and fire prevention services from headquarters and other locations.
Veteran’s Services
The County Veterans Service Office is committed to providing a vital and efficient system of services and advocacy to veterans, their dependents and survivors. The veterans service office can assist veterans, veterans’ widows, children of a deceased or disabled veteran and parents who lost a child in military service.
