The Metuchen area’s diversity and community spirit are reflected in the many houses of worship established here. Many of these serve the secular community as well through hosting support groups, offering cultural events and organizing charitable efforts such as food banks and social justice outreach programs.
Metuchen is home to both the first Hindu temple established in New Jersey and a Cathedral and seat of a Roman Catholic diocese. Various denominations of temples, mosques, and churches are located in and around the borough. In true community spirit, the Metuchen-Edison Interfaith Clergy Association works to collaborate the efforts of these many organizations.
